COMMUNITY CENTRE REOPENS

Community centre reopens

Community centre reopens after a £7.5 million refurbishment.

Dover's Discovery Centre has reopened its doors following its refurbishment, with a range of new services including a library. Services were due to start moving into the Dover Discovery Centre on Monday, bringing together the town's registration services, adult education, early years support, and social care.

Kevin Mills, Leader of Dover District Council (DDC), said: 'These improvements will reinforce our commitment to learning, engagement, and the protection of cultural heritage, and we are excited to work with partners, groups, and residents to bring these opportunities to life.'

The project is led by Kent County Council (KCC), which is working with the DDC to create a community hub for the town's residents, supporting the regeneration of Dover town centre and making public services more easily accessible in one central location. The refurbishment of the Discovery Centre represents a direct investment of over £7 million from KCC and over £500,000 from the DDC, in addition to improving public access to KCC.
