A man, K.A. from Ealing, West London, a dual Dutch and Irish national, has been found in possession of firearms after his vehicle was stopped and searched by police at the Port of Dover. The man is being detained under Schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act 2000. The individual, who was stopped on March 26, was entering the United Kingdom via France. Upon being stopped and searched by officers, several firearms and ammunition were discovered in his car. Commander Helen Flanagan, head of London’s Counter Terrorism Command, stated: “We appreciate that this news may be of concern to the public, but since this arrest took place, we have carried out a series of enquiries and, to date, we have not identified any imminent threats to the public related to this." “As the man has been charged, it is important that there is no further speculation about the case while criminal proceedings are ongoing. However, I can reassure the public that our investigation remains ongoing to ensure that the public is kept safe.”
